At the center of this main floor remodel is a modern kitchen infused with natural sunlight and a calming wetland view. In fact, it was the view (previously concealed by cabinetry) that drove the project. Designer Gigi Digiacomo called for opening the south wall and installing a bank of windows to let the sun shine in and reveal the natural beauty outside. The view can be appreciated while sitting at the built-in butcher block table, rolling pizza dough at the island counter (the homeowners have a wood-fire pizza oven out back), or rinsing dishes at the sink. The kitchen features custom curved base cabinets, an enlarged center island, and organic textural elements to create a sophisticated modern aesthetic. The color palette, inspired by the homeowners’ incredible collection of original modern oil paintings, combines cool gray, navy, and chocolate. All main level spaces are on the tour, including the mudroom.
