This cottage style home, complete with a welcoming front porch, looks like a slice of Americana, as comfortable in the country as it is in the city, or—more specifically—in the Morningside area of Edina. And just like country living, there’s an incredible sense of community here.

The inspiration for this $2.4 million home was the unique site of the home itself. “It’s a very secluded, wooded lot in the heart of Edina,” explains Rebecca Remick, general manager/owner of City Homes. “We felt that the house should reflect the character of the lot, and wanted to create a relaxing oasis that gave a feeling of being outside the city.”

Blending new homes into the neighborhood is one quality City Homes is known for, in addition to being good stewards of the community and their impeccable attention to detail.

The 5,272-square-foot home is in a new cul-de-sac subdivision on Sidell Trail, the first new street in Edina in nearly a decade. In addition to a stellar location, the home itself is beautiful, with a large, open great room and family room creating a welcoming gathering space, gourmet kitchen complete with a support prep kitchen, five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Unique features include a Minnesota Room—an extension of the main living space—with a stone fireplace and large oversized structural wood beams, emulating an actual timber frame structure. With large windows and magnificent views, the vibe in this room is like that of being in a screened-in porch, only used year-round as an entertainment and family space. A spacious second floor master suite, set above the pines, feels like a treetop retreat. The lower level is all about entertaining  with a 12-foot custom wood bar—created with wood from a tree on the lot—and a beer tap built  into the brick wall.
