Check Out Target’s Fall Home Décor Collections

Joy LED Target

True confession: I’m not always enthused about new home décor collections from Target. Items often look promising, but when I see them in real life my reaction is often more “meh” than “wow.”

So call my expectations low when I checked out the latest Threshold, Nate Berkus, and Oh Joy collections—especially after reading the Star Tribune’s profile about Target’s newly appointed chief merchant Mark Tritton. His talk of reinventing and recapturing that old “Tar-zhay” magic only reinforced my skepticism.

But I was surprised at the quality of Target fall introductions. The Nate Berkus line makes good use of metallics, often in combination with black, to give his accessories heft and a primitive sophistication. (That inlaid tray—$34.99, for crying out loud—is coming home with me.)

Threshold’s fall 2016 collection of fun and functional wares also includes pieces that feature metallics. Some, the green marble hanging table lamp ($49.99) and the Edison bulb lamp ($34.99), for example, have a bit of a steam punk industrial vibe. Others are more streamlined and colorful—pillows and throws in shades of maroon and pink.

The Target-Oh Joy collaboration incorporates much more pink and lots of whimsy. The California sensibility of the LA-based Oh Joy studio permeates the collection, and the trendy celestial motif gets plenty of play as well. A couple fun pieces: swan-shaped pillows, playful barware, and an LED moon light.

Check them out. All are in stores and online through Christmas.
