Oct. 9: Primrose Park Goodbye Party: Before this NE Minneapolis boutique moves into an expanded location in Woodbury, it is saying goodbye to its flagship store. Having recently opened a second location at The Shops at West End in St. Louis Park, this move augments the store’s successful first year in business. This goodbye party thanks the customers for their support with 20% off all regularly priced purchases. Complimentary wine and snacks will also be available during the festivities. Oct. 6-9: MOA Art + Style Series, Curated Style “Project Runway” fashion show: Following the Light Rail Fashion Show, Mall of America’s eclectic fashion week continues with events like Mall Microfashion at Creative Kidstuff, a “Minnstameets” meet and greet with local photogs, and an Adam Turman print giveaway. The week comes to an end with this fashion show event featuring new collections from Project Runway alums. Taking place at the mall’s rotunda, this star-studded event showcases works by Korto Momolu, Irina Shabayeva, local designer Christopher Straub, and more. Oct. 8: One Night One Mission, Dress for Success Fall Fundraiser: Dress for Success Twin Cities, a nonprofit that gives disadvantaged women the tools they need to jumpstart and thrive in their careers, is holding a one-of-a-kind fundraising event to celebrate its success. Women who have benefited from the nonprofit will walk the runway and share their journeys. Money raised will support the valuable programs that empower local women. Tickets are $100. Oct. 8: Kisa Boutique Ridgedale Grand Opening: Kisa’s opening party will mark the launch of its new collaborative jewelry collection with Bouchard Design Co. The collection features Byzantine coins and Turkish textile-inspired jewel tones, and Jen Bouchard will be on hand to debut it with a trunk show. Thirty percent of sales from the show will go to benefit Syrian refugees in Turkey. In addition to the trunk show, guests will enjoy complimentary refreshments, live music, gift bag giveaways, and additional sales throughout the store. Oct. 9: Coach’s Fall Collection Event at Coach Edina: Local jewelry designer Stephanie Lake was a friend of the late Bonnie Cashin, founding designer for Coach. At this one-night only event, Lake will share pieces from Cashin’s personal archive, which Cashin left to her. Chat with Lake and admire vintage pieces owned by one of ready-to-wear fashion’s pioneers. While you’re there, take a look at Coach’s just-released fall collection—this year is heavy on leather patchwork, jackets, and boots. Oct. 9-11: Midwest Home Show: For this 25th annual event, Midwest Home is coming to the State Fairgrounds to feature the works of several local vendors. This is your chance to meet and connect with the best of the best in local home improvement, including those in design, remodeling, landscaping, and more. While the event is ticketed, admission on Friday is free, and $4 Saturday and Sunday. Parking is free throughout the event. Oct. 9: Oil&Ink and Fidelis Co. Studio Open House: This open studio event is co-hosted by pop-up art gallery Oil & Ink and outdoor gear manufacturer Fidelis Co. Oil & Ink’s vintage motorcycle-themed prints have attracted a number of artists to create limited-edition works that will be on display at Fidelis’ new Minneapolis studio. Oct. 10: Sol Inspirations presents Innovations Student Fashion Show: For Sol Inspiration’s annual scholarship show, fashion students will present their designs, which use eco-friendly materials and ethical techniques. All pieces are ready-to-wear, and following the show longtime local designers will share their journeys into eco-fashion. Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar as you take in works from some new voices in the local fashion world. Oct. 10: BooFest on Grand: Grand Avenue’s Annual Fall Celebration: All of Grand Avenue gets in on this family-friendly event, which celebrates the beginning of fall with sales, refreshments, contests, and other activities including a costume contest, trick-or-treating, a petting zoo, karaoke contest, and pony rides. The adults can stop at the two beer gardens (one is alcohol-free) for some cold-weather refreshments. This daylong event is free and open to the public. Oct. 11: Minneapolis Craft Market: After last week’s kickoff, this craft market will be open every weekend through December 20. This month’s venue is Insight Brewing. The market features ceramics, clothing, fiber arts, jewelry, photography, woodwork, and more. Five percent of proceeds each month are donated to local non-profit arts organizations, in addition to a “scholarship stall” that awards arts students with the opportunity to participate in the market at no cost.
