7 Home Goods Makers to Check out at Farmers Markets This Season

Farmers markets are well-known as a resource for organic produce, local honey, and fresh-cut flowers. But several markets in the Twin Cities are also a destination for handcrafted home goods, such as ceramics, woodworking, throw pillows, towels, rugs, handwoven baskets, candles, art work, and décor. Two of the best for crafts are the long-running Mill City Farmers Market, which takes place every Saturday through October in the area between the Mill City Museum and the Guthrie Theater, and the Linden Hills Farmers Market, every Sunday through October beginning May 20, with a lineup of makers curated by Minneapolis Craft Market.

In honor of this weekend’s unofficial kickoff of farmers market season in Minnesota, here are 7 Minnesota makers of home goods to check out while you stock up on tomatoes and zucchini. And don’t forget your market tote. (Or pick one up from maker Jeanne Beatrice, who will be selling her market basket totes handwoven in Morocco out of water reeds or palm leaves and trimmed with leather at the Mill City Farmers Market on May 5.)
