2014 Home Highlights: Divine Custom Homes

A custom-built dream home, for some, includes an in-ground swimming pool with a pool house. Others want a state-of-the-art media center with all the bells and whistles. These homeowners had a different request: they asked Divine Custom Homes to build a rustic style home with its very own lower level archery range.

This is just one of many unique features of the nearly 7,000-square-foot, five bedroom, six bathroom home in Lake Elmo’s Sanctuary development.

Other must-see aspects include white enameled woodwork and walnut flooring contrasting with an ebony-stained kitchen island in the spacious kitchen, an 18-foot beamed ceiling in the great room, a cedar-shake-and-stone “cabin room”—one of Divine’s signature elements—complete with a wood-burning fireplace for that “Up North” feel, and a main level craft room created just for scrapbooking.

The master suite is just as interesting as the rest of the home, with a lit-tray ceiling, stone fireplace, and master bath with a soaking tub. A stackable washer and dryer can be found in the master closet. The kids’ bedrooms include secret hideout spaces with built-in ladders; and the bonus room at the end of the hall can be used as a workout space or game room.

In the lower level, there’s a mountain-lodge vibe, with reclaimed wood from a regional barn used throughout. The bar, customized with alder cabinetry, is the ideal spot for mixing drinks, while the sunken theater at the base of the stairs is the perfect place to watch the game with friends. Additional special features include secret doors that camouflage into the wall, a stone wine cellar, a book room, and the long, narrow archery range for target training.
