Celebrate Earth Day (and Succulents) at Tangletown Gardens

It doesn’t have to be Earth Day or any other quasi-celebration to stop in at Tangletown Gardens for a tranquility break. The south Minneapolis garden center personifies its oasis-in-the-city motto, no matter what the season. And it stocks an amazing selection of flora, as well as unusual outdoor and garden accessories.

But this is the weekend to visit if you love succulent containers—and you’d like one of your own rather than suffering Instagram-induced succulent envy all summer. On Friday, Tangletown opens its succulent station, staffed by designers who will help you choose a container (or you can bring your own), select your succulents, and plant them in an artful arrangement. The plants are all locally grown at Tangletown’s Plato farm.

Tangletown is also in the midst of its Make Way for Spring Sale, so check out the great finds in the clearance area while you’re there: containers, funky local art, lawn ornaments with attitude, and other treasures. Sale on through Sunday; the succulent station event starts on Friday at 10 a.m. and ends Sunday at 5 p.m.
