Edina Exquisiteness by OSLO Builders

Nestled on a large lot in the heart of Edina, this 4,300-square-foot, five-bedroom house is designed with a family in mind. The property sits adjacent to a small neighborhood park, giving it an even roomier feel.

“The house is situated to take advantage of the views,” says Matt Cooke of OSLO Builders. The living areas clustered to the rear sparkle with natural light that floods in from banks of windows overlooking the backyard and park beyond.

The home’s traditional style feels updated and fresh thanks to the gray-and-white palette and open floor plan. Three adjoining spaces—a living room with a gas-fired hearth, a kitchen with high-end appliances, and a large dining area—create a hub for family gatherings and entertaining. A hallway with a built-in desk leads to a mudroom and three-car garage. A large screen porch with cathedral ceilings and an ironwood floor offers the perfect place to dine or gather in summer.

When the weather turns, residents can curl up and watch a movie in the lower-level entertainment area, featuring a 110-inch screen for projected videos, a bar with built-in mini-fridge, and wood cabinets with quartz countertops for storage and service. Afterward, the owners can retire to the master suite on the second floor—a jewel of a space. The large bedroom connects with a sumptuous bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a tiled walk-in rain shower, and stained-alder detailing. A laundry room with pocket doors just steps away makes it easy to keep things tidy.

The home is also wired for modern living. “There’s audio throughout the entire house,” Cooke says. “And the lighting can all be controlled on your smartphone.”

But it’s the old-school touches that ultimately set this home apart. A coffered ceiling over the dining area and white-painted wood paneling in the stairwells give the home an added feeling of luxury. “You won’t find that in most new construction,” Cooke says. “But you’ll find those kinds of touches in almost everything we build.”
