Docomomo screens documentary of modernist icon Eero Saarinen

They’re affectionately called Beadle boxes because of their extremely simple box-shaped forms, sometimes set on raised platforms, with steel frames, flat roofs, concrete-block detailing and open-air carports. What many Beadle aficionados didn't know, however, was that the architect got his start in Minnesota.

On March 23, DOCOMOMO presents a new film, Eames: The Architect and the Painter, in Rapson Hall at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. Narrating the film is none other than the ubiquitous writer, artist, actor, producer and heartthrob James Franco.
